I realize that there are two types of people in the world when it comes to birthdays:

Those who proclaim their birthday loudly and proudly weeks before their actual birthday, gathering as much publicity and hype for it as much they can,

and those that keep their upcoming birthday a secret, as they act nonchalant about such an 'unimportant' event to come.

While those people mentioned in the first instance are the ones that eventually receive more gifts and more excitement on the day of, I found that those people in the second instance are the ones that actually benefit more.

Because it is in this instance that the people that truly care about you reveal themselves in the most subtle of ways by just merely remembering a single date out of 365 days. These people are your true friends.

So thank you--
           - to those people that threw me into the extremely warm and welcoming waves at the bonfire Saturday night, and especially with such a gentle heave that cushioned my descent into the soft edges of the jagged rocks below. (sarcasmCough)
          - to those people that welcomed me today in school with their cakes and/or gifts. They were all truly exquisite cakes, and just as equally magnificient presents.
         - And thank you, to those people that just uttered a simple 'Happy Birthday' to me. Yes, even such simplicity can still bring a smile to my face.
